The Property Guides website recently conducted an inquiry into the British's increasing desire to buy "Sunny Spain" property. In a survey of 2,800 participants, the company found out why Spain is such a preferred destination for British expatriates and whether recent events, like Brexit or COVID-19, affected their desire to buy property overseas.

The survey showed that 60% of participants wish to buy a property after the summer of 2020 in Spain. With a potential move to Spain, 73% seek a healthier lifestyle, while 64% see Spain as a place for good retirement and 49% look for new life adventures.

In addition, 61% of participants are aware that if they purchase property in Spain before the end of the Brexit transition period which ends on 31 December 2020, they can obtain residence permits and a right to Spanish healthcare. Similarly, 66 percent don't worry about Brexit if they think about buying a house in Spain.

Christopher Nye, Property Guide Content Editor, says that "our 2020 survey, conducted at COVID-19 level, received incredible answers from potential property buyers seeking homes in Spain.

Nye points out that the Britons want that dream home abroad, in spite of COVID-19 and Brexit, and many want it now. By year-end, more than 1 in 3 buyers want to buy property in Spain and over 90% of those surveyed have savings or assets to pay for the purchase of a property.
